Opera reinvented. Emotion for all.
Lyric Lab is the brainchild of a group of young Belgian singers with a passion for opera. Based in Brussels, its missions are
- the production of opera’s performed by professional singers based in Belgium,
- offering original experiences to bring classical works to life, and
- staging for the general public.
LyricLab aims to bring opera closer to the public, including in places where there are no opera houses. The aim is to enable a wide audience, whether or not they are familiar with opera, to (re)discover operatic works and their significance, which is often still relevant today. We create dynamic productions with, for example, the integration of the theatrical aspect instead of long recitatives, but want to remain faithful to the original works in the interpretation of the arias!
In addition, we regularly create partnerships with cultural associations with a social purpose, such as the ASBL CapArt which promotes the inclusion of people with disabilities (concert in January 2024 and opera in June 2025), the ASBL Projet Orfeo (concert in favor of asylum seekers in June 2024), and the ASBL Article 27 which promotes the cultural participation of people in difficult social or economic situations (our shows are accessible to people holding an “Article 27” ticket).
Our first production Figaro! is an original and dynamic adaptation of Le nozze di Figaro (W.A. Mozart) and Le mariage de Figaro (P.-A. de Beaumarchais). Our adaptation respects the purpose and grandeur of these historic works, but is presented in an innovative way. Find out more about this forthcoming production here!
